1. Make roads a property with tax on it, this will limit people buying willy nilly and throwing roads where they please AND people who own the land that the roads on can remove the road if need be.
2. make unclaimed land worth 50,000 dollars, this means players cant just keep building continuously, they have to plan on a budget what land they will buy where.
3. dormant players - if you are inactive for say 6-12 months, game auto reset and deletes buildings, there is nothing worse than a full world because someone stopped caring.
4. an auction house - this probably has come up before but having an actual place where you can see regulated prices on items and an average of how much they sell for will stop players asking "how much should my small factory sell for"
things that should not be in the game and why. (these are ideas that many asked for but from experience i know wont work.)
stock market - if you get a player to buy up give away assetts for 1 dollar then wait for there stock to drop to 0.001% and then give them all there assetts and wait aday, your return will be 1,000,000,000,000%. this is a cheat way that many players abuse in many games. People only want this because it is easy to abuse and break.
buy outs - adding a system that lets you gain a players company essentially makes a game over scenerio.
if anyone wants to add or has responses to any of these, feel free to respond.

Borehole solution.
Lets start with abit of history
back during the california gold rush there was a strange crisis. see with everyone digging holes everywhere the countries soil was getting damaged effecting what could be built on it. One day a smart business man found out about a device that could detect metal without having to dig into the ground (an old fashoned metal detector). so he stopped all the people digging and gave them all this device. the metal detector solved 2 problems, 1 no more holes. 2 people were finding more gold than they did when they were digging holes.
back to the game.
if you remove the borehole and put in a surveyors office this will stop people putting holes all over the map. make have the following ability: 100 energy - you can send a team to a plot on the map and survey it for minerals and oil.
make it have a countdown timer of 30 minutes. and then put out a report for the player to read on that site.
heres the kicker. Limit it to 1 per player. if people move move they cant make a new one they will bring the old one with them, this will encourage problem solving and strategic placement by players.
what this solves:
1. players no longer have the option of spamming boreholes
2. players dont have to keep rebuilding it on every site they want to mine.
3. its clean and efficient.

upgrades:
more employees - increase accuracy
upgrade equiptment "metal detector - 10% accuracy", "subterranian sonar - 25% accuracy", "thermal imaging - 50% accuracy"
point 3 could be solved by point 4. would help lower prices by increasing demand
I second all the above
